Cote d’Ivoire Market Watch | June 18th 2015: BRVM Equity market cap drops by XOF 31 billion
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 274.41 to 271.79 points, a drop of 0.95%. BRVM Composite index lost 0.45% to 274.05 against 275.29 points previously. Equally, the equity market capitalization lost XOF 30.62 billion to close at XOF 6,762.32 billion compared with previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 6,792.94 billion.
Looking at the market activity, the total volume was recorded at 3.320 million compared to volume of 3.612 million recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was recorded at XOF 1,142 million (against XOF 834.678 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 30 securities via 307 transactions. In addition, today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 3.278 million traded shares (accounted for about 99 percent of the total volume) and SAPH COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest turnover of XOF 266.68 million (accounted for almost 24 percent of total turnover). The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 79.77 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 19.72.
In term of the price shakers and laggards, out of the 30 traded securities there were 13 price gainers, 10 laggards and 7 remained unchanged, hence market breathe end positive. The price leaders were SICABLE COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.50 percent to end at XOF 109,650 and NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE climbed by 7.50 percent to conclude at XOF 60,200. Likewise, TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE appreciated by 7.50 percent to settle at XOF 245,100 and TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE added 7.50 percent with a closing price of XOF 344,000.
Contrary, SODE COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 7.50 percent to trade at XOF 70,485.00 and UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 7.50 percent to close at XOF 29,415. Likewise, CIE COTE D’IVOIRE and FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 6.98 percent (to close at XOF 70,000) and 6.00 percent (to close at XOF 23,500) respectively.
From sector viewpoint, industry sector index tumbled by 2.54 percent, public utilities fell by 0.67 percent and financial services sector index went down by 0.51 percent. On the contrary, agriculture sector index rose 1.46 percent to close at 980.67 points and distribution sector index climbed by 2.83 percent. While transportation sector index and miscellaneous sector index remained flat.
